Does anyone have an opinion of who is the best unlimited music downloads for the money

Need to revive my music collection which was stolen from my car. 164 CDs gone. That will learn me from forgetting to bring them in.

I have been checking out some of the sites and wondered if MOG was better than rhapsody or napster better than ??? for the price selection and hidden limitations I may miss. I would like to replace about 500 songs. Any thoughts. Please advise. Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi ruavol2, MOG looks good, affordable.
It's about personal budgets really.
As you may know there is gazillions of sites online these days
just google music
Depending if you just want to buy all the cd's again or single tracks but at an affordable price then Amazon is excellent and they sell from new and used 2nd hand cd's which means they dont have a cover but from my own experience the discs are perfect at a discount for around a couple of Dolars it's worth it for a whole CD. I can always look up a image if needed for covers

If you want single tracks
I have used  http://www.mp3.com/
It was very good.
yahoo
http://new.music.yahoo.com/

iTunes/ Real Networks etc of course is two of the top but from what I have seen here at EE lots of users get frustrated with the DRM when transporting their music around.
But they all offer burn to cd.
Hope it assists

Just wanted to verify this with you Merete. These files are mp3 that I would be downloading. So if I wanted to put them on my mp3 player when I jog. Then burn the same file to disk so I can listen in my car and then load some on my business phones "hold music" I could do all three unlimited. If I cancel the subscription say in a year will the music stop working if I subscribe to MOG or Rhapsody etc.

YES or NO.

Thanks again. I have gone without music too long. 7 years to be exact.

Well that doesnt have a straight answer ruavol2 , 7 years lol you must humm a lot then :P
What CD player is your car?
it has to support mp3 discs or as I call them data discs.
What I do using Nero but you can use your own software such as WMP winamp or any burning tool.
I burn my mp3 to CD as a data disc. That works on my PC mp3 player and in my car.
Data cd is the same as mp3 discs.
I'd stay away from Audio cd as that transports the mp3 to CDA.
Music is stored on Audio CDs as uncompressed digital data.
And then you have to rip them back from CDA to MP3.
CDA cannot be copied off an audio disc and played as is.
Where as mp3 can be copied as is back to the hard drive.
Also Audio discs only hold about 10 tracks or less.
Where as data cd hold anywhere from 30 or more mp3.

covering this> then load some on my business phones "hold music"< as far as I know hold music can use mp3 or mids or wav. Depending on your product and what it supports.
You need to check that out.
If you have any further questions ask away.
Cheers

Answer is No once you own it it's yours and once burnt to Data CD it's perminently yours unless some one steals ouch..>. If I cancel the subscription say in a year will the music stop working
YES or NO.
Just to add if you buy a CD from a shop that is an audio CD and you need to use a tool to extract the CDA to mp3.
I use Cdex

Or Audacity

Thank you sir. I am looking forward to listening to some Creedence, work on "the Fixx" and get "The Cure". I am not part of the CULT but I love them, The Doors are open now, I won't have to avoid the POLICE, because I will have Carolina on my mind and oh Mexico. (James Taylor) and finally I will think about what is going on in my own Talking Heads, YES....and now be grateful for U2 ? Looking forward to the Journey and hanging out with Eddie Van Halen.

Thanks Merete...You tha' man.
