DNS and mapping to URL
I have a site with URL: www.website.com.
This is hosted on a Verio VPS server.
If I go to website.com, I should be "mapped" to the same as www.website.com
Can someone tell me what causes this to happen?
Currently, website.com takes me to the verio welcome screen and I need to resolve this asap.
Hope this makes sense
Thank you

You need to configure this in DNS - www.website.com is a different A record to website.com which will have its own A record. You need to change the A record for website.com (or ask whoever manages your DNS) to the same IP as the www record.

In this case you will need to look into the configuration of the Verio VPS server (for which I am not an expert) as it seems that it is eroneously answering requests for your domain and forwarding them to its welcome screen.
If you have purchased this service I would contact your hosting company as they should be able to resolve this easily enough - at least you know it's not a DNS error.

Ady-
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. a Conf file had a default host name from when the VPS was purchased. It was causing requests to go to the default page instead of the website.
thanks

I find that usually if the server is a UNIX hosted then you need to be more specific and a Windows/IIS domain server is more dumbed down and automatically resolves more variations of web addresses without you having to configure them.
Nevertheless, you will need to contact your domain host provider and tell them that you want them to resolve to your web site with and without the WWW.
