Has anyone performed an SBS migration from 2003 to 2011 through a VPN

I have a unique situation for an SBS migration. The source 2003 server is at one location while the new 2011 server is at the new location. The are of course on different subnets and connected via a VPN. Will this behavior disrupt the migration? Migrations are tricky and I want to get it right the first time. I could move the new server to make this easier but then I will have to move it back. Looking for some advice here.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would definately be moving the server to the same location as the existing SBS server.  There are enough things that can go wrong as it is without adding a VPN migration as a complication
