Cannot Onen Office Attachments in Server 2008 from outlook

Hi guys

I have a 2008 Terminal Server with office 2010 and users are unable to open office documents directly from outlook by double clicking on them. Other attachments such as adobe are fine.

They receive the usual 'word experianced an error trying to open the file' error - check your permissions. They can save it elsewhere and open it, but nothing else.

Please help!

Alex.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don't have a definitive answer, but I have my suspicions what direction might be useful to pursue.
I think the file you are attempting to edit is being written to a temporary location, and office then attempts to perform it's normal office-type editing, which frequently means making a temporary copy of that file... all those lovely tilda files we have grown to love.

The location it's trying to use is stored in registry, and that value depends on the version of Outlook you are using:

Now... on the Terminal Server 2008, confirm that the box that has Outlook... that the user has sufficient permission in that temp directory to read/modify permissions.  Things are complicated if Office is on a different terminal server...
