Cleaning SMS

How does one remove machines from SMS?  I assume SMS can't do it automatically because the machine could be turned off.

If I had a list of dead machines could I run a delete query on the table that contains machines and would SMS then delete all the related data?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Thanks.  Looks like these tasks don't run at my site.  I still have data from 2 years ago.
