FTP server on DMZ or internal

Is it best to put FTP server on DMZ or secure it on internal LAN.

Depends on what the purpose of the ftp server is. If it is a publicly accessible server then put it in DMZ if it is only for internal use then LAN should be fine
Very often there is a need to exchange file with people out of your network.
Hence putting the server at DMZ would give you that flexibility.
Both the internal users could access the DMZ and be able to share the files.
File could still be shared via the FTP by your LAN users from the DMZ zone.
