can't expand on Tools within Word 2007

I have a really weird problem. I am running Word 2003, when I click on Tools, nothing drop down. I can click on File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Table, Windows, and Help to get the drop down menu. Tools does not have any drop down. How can i fix this? Is there a way to reset Word to default?

thanks in advance

Hi,

right click on the tool bar, then click customize option. click menu tab and select Tools menu name then see, any child items (sub menus) is assigned for the item. if it is not selected now you can select one by one. it it is selected then you will have to verify in Windows registry only. because some viruses will change value for tools menu in registry.

thanks very much for going out off your way. When I select Tool categories,  I see Spelling and Grammar, Research, Spelling, Grammar, Set Language... I do also see that "to add a command to toolbar; select a category and drag the command out of this dialog box to a toolbar. So i think i have define commands for Tools right? If that is that case why is ot when i click on Tool there is no drop down menu?

thanks

Hi,

after opening the customize window, you can remove the items from any menu. somebody would have removed from the menu (means some macro virus... :). in the same window you will get all the options which is there already in tools menu. now you can drag the options into your tools menu. or you can try with "Rearrange commands" option. it may work.
