Extra line when using using css

Hi I know there is already a wealth on the net but im still having a problem,  I have a DIV tag that Im styling. When I style the text an extra line appears at the bottom of the text. Iv set margins and padding to zero!
<DIV title="lblTitle" style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; Z-INDEX: 101; LEFT: 8px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 848px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 8px; HEIGHT: 8px"
				align="center" ms_positioning="FlowLayout" class="body">
				<FONT size="3">
					<H1 id="Title" ><FONT size="3"><b>Please display one line</b></FONT></H1>
				</FONT>
			</DIV>

H1	{
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size:	2em;
	font-weight:	700;
	font-style:	normal;
	text-decoration:	none;
	word-spacing:	normal;
	letter-spacing:	normal;
	text-transform:	none;
	display:inline;
	margin-bottom: 0; padding-bottom: 0;
	}

H1#Title
{
	background:	#036;
	color:	#fff;
	display: inline;

sorry I might not have explained this correctly Im using Visual studiio 2003 when inserting a HTMl label and typing some text in the label I can resize the label to border, so it is tight against the text, when I add a style to the text I an extra line feed is returned at the bottom of the text and I cant resize the border tight against the text. When loading into IE the border is still not tight agaisnt the text meaning my web design is not as snug as it could be.
