0xc000000f - the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

We have a Windows 7 Packard Bell Easynote TJ64 laptop

At first it was loading into windows and a few seconds after showing the user account icons there was an error "Driver IRQL bot less or equal".

In the meantime my boss then tried to do a system restore (from the hard drive as no physical restore disk)

The recovery locked up and now we get a screen as follows:

Status - 0xc000000f

Info - the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

Can anyone advise what we can try.  The data from the laptop is not backed up at all and I have checked the boot sequence in the bios is fine.

try booting with a live cd and try saving your data

you might also try fixing the mbr with the windows rescue mode

I can not locate a Windows 7 disk.

I can boot from usb floppy is there some dos commands i can use to check or repair?

are you familiar with does prompt? you might just create more damage if your not...

Try booting from something like ubuntoo and mount the partition to try to save the information or to check that your information is still intact

I have managed to download the free recovery software created by PARAGON, this is allowing me to view all the drives and i'm currently copying over the documents to an external drive.

I'll be leaving work soon so going to leave this running as it's due to taka a while

Otherwise a fresh install from a disk looks like the only option available (and probably the best)

You might also want to try to do a hardware test before you install just to make sure all your hardware is functional

the error you were getting at the time of boot indicates that the volume GUID changed due to system restore (Most probably). Booting from win7 Cd and selecting "Fix start up problems" should fix that but the error "IRQ LESS" can come again. So best way would be re-install.. I believe its a software issue however checking the hardware would also be a good idea.

I managed to recover the data using Paragon software then used a borrowed Windows 7 disk and left it up to the user to register using their own windows key
