word03 07 10 default footer

I've done some searching, and have tried my own things.
I have a system server (worlddox) in place that auto places a doc number on the bottom left.

Users want it on the bottom center.

Worlddox support says it's word, and I need to change the normal.dot. I know the risks of doing this, but I tried anyhow. I also tried putting a dotx in the startup folder. Both did not create positive results. I do not want the users to have to do a file/choose template anyhow. They would not like that.

They want word to open, and to have the doc number that worlddox places on the bottom left to be on the bottom center.

I've never used VBA, that some suggest on previous questions.

Is this more trouble than it's worth?

They would just have to accept that.

Hello,

does the Normal.dot have any entry in the footer that comes from the worlddox system? If so, move the orientation of that entry in the footer.

Also be aware that the Normal.dot is called Normal.dotm in Word 2007 and 2010.

Does each user have their own profile with their own Normal.dot? Or is there a centrally accessed Normal.dot that is served by the Worlddox server?

Worlddox is a commercial system, and without knowing how they influence the Word application and the way the Normal.dot is served, there is little we can do. They should be able to tell you exactly which file to change to adapt their system to your needs.
