Really very little hardware support is needed, I would like access to the file system to store offline files. But is it possible to have Rhomoblie to access the phone hardware to get the number of the phone. Would like to use this feature as an added security to identify the user. Or is there another mechanism that can be used with Rhomobile to identify the user besids having the user enter <br />
in their user/password credentials.<br />

How to get started building Mobil apps

iOS is a mobile operating system developed by Apple; it is a derivative of the Mac OS X desktop operating system, with which it shares many (but not all) common frameworks and other components. These include Cocoa Touch, the Mach/Darwin/XNU kernel and code from the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD). Each iOS application runs in its own secure sandbox to prevent altering other applications, the operating system, or any other data.

Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android's user interface is based on direct manipulation, using touch gestures that loosely correspond to real-world actions, such as swiping, tapping and pinching, to manipulate on-screen objects, along with a virtual keyboard for text input. In addition to touchscreen devices, variants of Android are also used on notebooks, game consoles, digital cameras, televisions, automobiles and other electronics. Applications are usually developed in Java programming language using the Android software development kit (SDK), but other development environments are also available, including Delphi, Ruby and Visual Studio (using C++).

The BlackBerry operating system is proprietary; releases beginning with BlackBerry 10 include support for applications written for the Android platform. As such, developers can use almost any programming language that can be used for other smartphones, including Java, Adobe Air, .NET and HTML5/JS (via an app packaging framework like PhoneGap) .
