Error when trying to install Microsoft Project 2003 on a Windows 7 machine

Hello,

I have a Windows 7 laptop here, and when I attempt to install Microsoft Project 2003, I receive Error: 1719: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer in not correctly installed. I have tried to run sfc /scannow (did not help), I have ran msiexec /unreg & /regserver (this did not help either).

In the even viewer the Event 1000, Application error shows the faulting application name: msiexec.exe version 5.0.7600.16385 and the faulting module name: OLEAUT32.dll, version 6.1.7600.16567.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get around this? Thank you in advance!!

I was able to go in and extract everything mentioned above however, when I try to copy over the SrpUxSnapIn.dll my access is denied because of the TrustedInstaller. Is there a way around this before I have to re-image the whole machine.

Thank you for both for all of your help. I ended up installing Microsoft Project 2010 and it installed without issue. I'm really not to sure what was going on with Microsoft Project 2003. Again, thank you for your help!
