I have a device that requires an smtp relay ip address.  I do not have an smtp sever. I want to uae googles but I dont know how to setup my device because it can only be programmed with ip address, port number. no place to set for ssl or password.  any suggestions on how ican get my device to report to me?

If this is a hardware device - printer, firewall, whatever - and it doesn't provide for authentication, you will need to either setup your own smtp relay server (and make sure it is protected from being abused), or use one that is authenticated  by your location, for example, your ISP may allow you to relay through their smtp server if you are sending from their network, so you can check with them...
