I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Does this happen with all Excel 2003 files or only with a specific one?

And check that specific file in a version of excel 2003 and see if it's still garbled.

In excel 2007 go to file, open.browse to the file. Then instead of pressing open, press the little down arrow next to open and choose open and repair. See if that works

Hi,
Many 2003 files are corrupted.

Can't follow your procedure.  Please elaborate. "In excel 2007 go to file, open.browse to the file. Then instead of pressing open, press the little down arrow next to open and choose open and repair"  Don't see any "little down arrow"

Thanks,
Joe

Try to change the file association type & check.

Download FREE Creative Element Power Tool from below link;

http://creativelement.com/powertools/#download

After installation open it &
Click & accept on "Edit File Type association" & follow the instructions...

Hi,

Try to change the file association type & check. Does not work.
It should be on the open burton on the right side of the button.  Excel does not have a "find" button.  It has a dumb circular icon in the top left corner instead of "find"  Still no little down arrow to "open and repair".
