Can SBS 2003 be upgraded to R2 without additional licensing? I have install disk...

1. Was wondering if SBS2003 "R2" was a free upgrade to SBS 2003, and if the original product key and licensing would work

2. If not, where can you purchase the update?

3. Is it worth buying?  looking at a few more years from this server.

R2 for SBS 2003 introduced WSUS integrated with the SBS console, not much else.  I would not do this as it is still based on Windows Server 2003, not even Server 2003 R2, as the name would imply.  Wait until you go to SBS 2011 or what ever is current when you make the move.

There are no issues with installing the R2 Technology Components, see the guidance here from Microsoft: http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/5/c/15cfb9dd-a875-4f1a-9d6d-d17b6df92853/r2setup.htm

demazter is correct that there are no issues. fl_flyfishing is correct that there isn't anything particularly worthwhile. Neither mentioned cost; it is not free. And as old as it is, finding it on sale (no upgrade pricing) I'd not recommend purchasing R2 either, simply for cost/benefit ratio.
