Windows 7 and Internet Explorer Protected Mode

I disabled Internet Explorer protected mode.  Now there is a bar at the top of my I.E. window telling me its disabled.  Even if i click on the X to close the notification bar it reappears each time i open a new window.  Is there any way to permanently suppress this alert/notification?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Ok here's a forum post describing how to disable the information bar completely.

Please note this will disable all notifications that present itself there. Please be careful when browsing sites becuase it will NOT warn you of problems when this is activated.

as always, please be careful when changing anything in the registry!!!!

but this question has already been asked here as well:

that route may be safer, however, still be careful with ANY IE sec. settings.
