what memory chips are best for eg31m-s2

hi,

i have a eg31m-s2 mobo, and want to upgrade my current 4GB of RAM.  can someone tell me what memory chips are safe to be used with this older mobo?  i tried the crucial scan before but found the results to be less than ideal as the chips i got gave me a blue screen due to power over-consumption.  thanks.

Here's the list of supported memory types from Gigabyte

All of these modules have been tested by the motherboard manufacturer.

The board only seems to support a maximum of 4GB though.

in that case can someone recommend a good midrange priced mobo?  also, is there anything to watch out for when installing a mobo?
