I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I appreciate this is an old thread, but seeing as you've not had any replies, I'll suggest a different way!

A different way of spinning things, but I handle rsyslog output by installing an rsyslog server in linux, and then opening multiple windows running tail & grep.

Once installed (and accepting logs from remote hosts) it's simply a case of running

# tail -f /var/log/syslog | grep 192.168.1.1

and in another window:

# tail -f /var/log/syslog grep 192.168.1.2

I hope this helps a little, although understand that it's not an answer to the original question....
