Loading Excel 2007 file data into sqlserver 2005 using openrowset

Hi

Is it possible to load .xlsx file into sqlserver 2005 table using openrowset. if so could you pelase guide me on this..

MY OS is 64 bit WIndows 2003 server.

There are a few options for you to try out if you have SQL 2005 installed for you:
1. Please open that .xlsx and either save it as a .CSV (if it's too big) or .xls if it's not too big, after which you will then have to import it using Import/Export data wizard into your SQL database.

Even if you have Office 2010 installed on your computer but for as long as you have SQL 2005 management tools, the highest version of Excel to work with is Excel 2005.

2. Install SQl 2008 management tools then import the data. If you have SQL 2008 tools installed and Office 2010 then you can import Excel 2007 files using the Import/Export data wizard that comes with SQL 2008 admin tools.
