Isn't it the C key to boot from CD on a MAC?

TBK-ConsultingCommented:
Try the Apple Key plus the C Key

Should still work for the external drive - have you tried just the C button (no apple key too)?

Try CMD + OPT + SHIFT + DELETE - according to apple that should boot from external drives (hdd or cd)

Got it sorted guys! turns out it both the internal drive and the external drive were faulty!

I simply used another usb drive, put the disc in, and it booted up straight away

Thanks for your help folks
