Document library standard view

The standard view of a Document Library does not show the filename extensions.  When I create a custom view there is no field that I can choose which will display the file extension.

The only differentiation in the view is the icon, which is blank for unknown types - and not much use for differentiating between unknown types.

Does anyone know a work-around?

The TItle column should show the full file name with extension, however it will be near redundant with showing the Name column, which is the column with the "Edit" menu. Does showing the Title field give you what you need, or do you need more customization than this?
if you want to know the extension of the unknown file type the other solution is whenever you  hover over it then at the bottom of the page it shows the complete URL with the file name and extension.
else until u add the icons this is how it comes
I'm not entirely sure of your requirements, but you could in theory create a workflow that runs whenever a document is added that populates the Name column with the contents of the Title column, which would give you the extension. You could do that in SharePoint Designer.
