HP Laserjet 1022 Printer on Win 7

Hey guys,

I have a client with an HP laserjet 1022 printer running windows 7 x64. The printer seemed to stop the spooler whenever the client wanted to print, to any printer, not just this one.

We would restart the spooler and it would auto stop. upon uninstalling the printer and restarting the spooler the problem went away.

when we reinstalled the printer the auto-spooler stops went away but the user cant print to that printer. in windows 7 if you click the printer it always says "Status: Needs Troubleshooting"

When we ran the windows troubleshooter it would say that it fixed 2 or 3 problems but once we tried to print again the status would switch back to "Needs Troubleshooting" and not print.

Any help is appreciated,

Download this program from HP, install it and run it (pay attention to make sure you match up the model number properly).

It is a Laserjet utility that I use on job sites from time to time.

That printer utility didn't seem to do anything. It said that it finished very quickly but the same problems stated above still occur.

Uninstalled the printer software.  Disconnected the printer.   Rebooted the PC.  Plugged the printer in.  Windows reinstalled the driver from what was apparently still already on the disk, without installing all the additional garbage that the software CD installs.   Done.
