Importing Excel File/Data Type

Hi,

I am looking to link some excel files in an Access DB.

I need to change the data type on import however. The excel file has a data type of number for a particular column and i need it to be text.

Access says i cant modify the properties. How can i get round this?

Thanks

Link the workbook and use a query to change the datatype of the column.  If you need a copy of the data in a table, you can convert the Select query into an append or make-table query.

Thanks aikimark, i was thinking about the update query, what is the update criteria though?

So i want the update query to change the field to format text, what would the code be?

Thanks

either Cstr() or Format() should work
