First make sure you have SP3 installed, then try the kernel mode authentication.

If that doesn't work, do you have a self signed or 3rd party certificate? The domain name, is this one you recognise? Is it your own?

Yes it is and it never used to happen just started so not sure what installed on the server that created the problem. I have seen it before but cannot for the life of me remember what i did to fix it

The other option is it may be looking for autodiscover.domainname.com and finding your ISP.

Can you try creating an autodiscover.domainname.co.uk (where domainname.co.uk is the part after the @ in your email address) as a forward lookup zone in your internal DNS.  And point it to the internal IP of your exchange server.  Setup the zone as per my guide here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/A_3703-Use-iPhone-on-wifi-network-without-the-need-to-reconfigure.html
