I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I also have avast and it started doing the exact same thing today.   Same error on the virus script as well.

Must be an avast update that is causing the issue.    It happened to my company, everyone in it within 15 minutes of each other.   Every web site, even internal ones.

To fix, I turned off web shield just to get all back to work.

robbhill. that sounds like a good idea. From within Avast?  I am in Avast and have the Exclusions window open. Not sure how to make the printer port an exception.
Avast just released an 110411-02 definition update that fixed all our issues.    Try updating the VPS definition file then retest.
