Sync old messages to Blackberry via BES

Having an issue - here's the situation.  We wiped a user's Blackberry without backing up the device via Desktop Manager.  We proceeded with a re-activation of the device on our BES, after which we found that the user had only a fraction of their older mail showing up on the handheld.  Prior to the wipe, the user had months worth of mail on the device.  We have already adjusted the setting on the BES to allow 14 days worth of mail to sync to the device upon activation.  We are looking for a way to sync a greater period of old mail to the device, several months worth of mail if possible, in this BES environment.  Is there any way to do this?

We are running BES 4.1.5.26.  The mail system is Exchange 2003, SP2, fully patched.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks - I have already increased the pre-population setting and retrieved 14 days worth of mail - we were looking for any way to force additional older mail to pull down to the handheld AFTER activation, either by some manual or automatic means.
You only real option would be to forward the messages to yourself to get them to sync.

If you mark messages as 'Saved' in the message list, it will stop them from dropping 'off the bottom' of the message list. When you reactivate, these Saved messages should reappear during activation. You can filter for them in the Messages list by clicking the BlackBerry menu key and choosing 'View Saved Messages'.

Hi,
Thanks to all who responded - we have decided to not persue this any further - we have simply informed the user that he cannot pull older messages to the device after speaking with RIM.  I am awarding points to RobMobility since his answer is the closest to what I was told by RIM.

Confirmed limitation on devices in place as reported by RIM.
