Unable to Save or Save As in word 2007

I unable to do a save or save as on any documents in Word 2007.  I am able to save with no problems in all of the other programs within the Office package.  I have done a complete uninstall/reinstall.  I have uninstalled, cleaned the registry and then reinstalled.  I have tried running winword.exe /a (did not work).  I most recently upgraded to 2010 and that did not solve the problem.

Any suggestions.

Make sure you have security permissions to save in the target folder.
Open Word 2010, click on File, then on the left click Help.
On the right under the Office logo verify that you see 'Product Activated'

This is the only reason I can think of after a reinstall for the software not saving documents.  If the product is activated, then my next step would be to use a more agressive uninstaller such as this:

http://www.revouninstaller.com/download/revouninstaller.zip

This is Revo Uninstaller, it has done a wonderful job for me in the past of making problem software go away.

Absolutely, Try doing above procedure and recheck the registry settings. If that doesn't work try booting in safe mode and than open the word 2010. let us know what is the result and Are you able to use the word in safe mode.

Peace
If Word is Activated and all other Office apps are working properly, and you still can't save files, even on the Desktop, consider this I found here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541

Follow the instructions for deleting the Word Data and/or Options registry keys to make sure the problem isn't there.

The Product is activated.  I am able to save in all other programs within Office (excel, powerpoint, etc.)

@carlrjr - I have tried the revouninstaller and it says it was successful but I beg to differ.  After I uninstalled, I then reinstalled and it did not work still.    I have also tried deleting the Word Data/Options registry keys which also did not help.

@n2fc - The correct permissions are in place for folder access.
This is a tough one...

What is the exact error message when you attempt to Save/Save As, or are these options greyed out?
There is no error message that comes up (which is making tracking down so tough).  When I select save or save as no dialog box appears to let me name the file or select a location.  If I close Word I do not even get a prompt to save changes on both a new document or on a document that I have modified.

Okay, we're now in 'Let's try This' land... strange but not unheard of problem, the Google gods (forgive me if you've already tried this) tell me to check the following registry key for 'FileSaveBlock' -- if that exists then delete it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Security

In fact, anything other than 'Trusted Locations' under this Security key can be deleted, I assume, since my install has nothing other than 'Trusted Locations' there.
Did complete system reinstall.
