Better alternative to input type?

Hi below is some code that displays a timer. However it displays it in a textbox.  Is there another way I can display it other than an input type?

><input type="text" size="40" name="beg2" id="beg2" value="0:05" style="border: 0;"

I changed my code to......

<TD><label for="beg2" id="beg2" value="0:05" style="display:none"></TD>

It gives my page problems when it loads. How does this code look to you?

Paul JacksonCommented:
you need to close the label tag.
<TD><label for="beg2" id="beg2"  value="0:05" style="display:none"/></TD>
