What to do if iphones sometimes stop to sync with exchange 2007 on SBS 2008

We recently installed an SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 and we have problems with the iphones.
We managed to get them work but it seems it is just for temporary as the iphones often stop to work and say: could not connect to the server or exchange account cannot be verified (if i want ot recreate the account on the phone)
There are 3G connections on the iphones and the connection (browsing) works well when the problem occurs.
The internet connection also works on the server. There was no reboot which cause this problem.
OWA is also accessible and works fine when the problem occurs on the phones.
Basically the iphones work for days and then stop working but nobody touches the server at all and it did not reboot (checked from eventlog) A server restart does not solve the problem. Once i managed to fix it when i restarted the SBS WEB applications site in the IIS manager, but last time it just solved itself bu i am almost sure i will have the same problem again within few days. It keeps playing it.
I already checked our pfsense firewall system and all the necessary ports are open.
Anyone has any idea what can cause these kind of "sometimes works sometimes does not work" problem?
