What to do if iphones sometimes stop to sync with exchange 2007 on SBS 2008

Hello Guys,

We recently installed an SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 and we have problems with the iphones.
We managed to get them work but it seems it is just for temporary as the iphones often stop to work and say: could not connect to the server or exchange account cannot be verified (if i want ot recreate the account on the phone)

There are 3G connections on the iphones and the connection (browsing) works well when the problem occurs.
The internet connection also works on the server. There was no reboot which cause this problem.
OWA is also accessible and works fine when the problem occurs on the phones.

Basically the iphones work for days and then stop working but nobody touches the server at all and it did not reboot (checked from eventlog) A server restart does not solve the problem. Once i managed to fix it when i restarted the SBS WEB applications site in the IIS manager, but last time it just solved itself bu i am almost sure i will have the same problem again within few days. It keeps playing it.

I already checked our pfsense firewall system and all the necessary ports are open.

Anyone has any idea what can cause these kind of "sometimes works sometimes does not work" problem?

Thank you in advance!

It's normally due to AV scanning. Next time it happens, try and disable your AV scanning and then see if it suddenly starts to work or not.

Thank you, I will check that one as well.
We use AVG but I did not install the mailscanner as we had problems with it in the past.

Also ensure your iPhones are running the latest firmware.

We had problems again. The iphones stopped working after 7 pm yesterday. This morning I checked the event logs and did not find any error log just information logs that said the first and second storage group was defregmanted overnight after 10 pm. Could it be a problem?
I started to restart services individually and checked the iphone after every service restart. After when I restarted the default website in the IIS manager suddenly the iphones started receiving emails again.
This service became suspicious but i want to wait the next problem and restart the same process and see if it will solve it again or won't. Because earlier it just solved itself.

I've checked the AV and there was no scan during the last few days. (just AV database updates without restart)
The same iphones were working with exchange 2003 without any problem.

So, now the IIS seems to be the problem. Did anyone have similar problem?

It is still doing strange things like:

"My push emails have been working fine until last night, now they are not coming through to my phone
Other user’s have not worked all week but they started working this morning"

Nobody touched the server that night, and there was no restart at all.
When I restarted later it started to work for the first client and stopped for the other user.

Anyone has any idea? :(

Try removing AVG. Have you also ran ExBPA on there?

We have not touched it but it solved itself few weeks ago.

I guess it could be a 3G connection problem. (I always tested the browsing but not the ports and other services on the phones)
