How to fix Cisco VPN client connection issue in Windows 7

Hi Experts,

I'm using Cisco VPN client in Windows 7 and still got an information says :" Secure VPN Connection terminated by the Client. Reason 442: Failed to enable Virtual Adapter.”

Tried vpn versions: 5.0.01.0600, 5.0.06.0160, 5.0.07.0290 and 5.0.07.0410 (Cisco latest version)
System: domain computers, 32bit Windows 7 pro.

I tried the following possible solutions (see attached file) and searched your knowledge base about the issue. But still no found a final solution. So want to know if there some new updates for solving the issue. Thanks in advance.

I think we found a tough solution: 1. Create a clean Windows 7 system 2. Install Cisco VPN client firstly 3. Then install other applications.   We did not find which application is related the error. Anyway, this way works for us. You can close the question. Thanks any help you gived.

Did you try to uninstall and reinstall the VPN client? I've been having this error often with it before upgrading to Anyconnect and that was the solution.

OK, you can try the following:
1. Enable Cisco System VPN adapter
2. Set its TCP/IPv4 to receive IP address from DHCP and close the Property dialog
3. On Windows XP you right-click on Repair, on Windows 7 Diagnose and then Reset
4. Ignore the error for invalid IP address and Cancel the repair
5. Disable Cisco System VPN adapter
6. Restart Windows
That should work

Sorry for my late answer, I wasn’t ready to type all that on my iPhone yesterday.

Sometimes Updating Deterministic Network Enhancer helps in issues with Cisco VPN.

You didn't tell us if you see the disabled VPN adapter while disconnected.
