lsass.exe - System Error : Directory Services could not start because of the The specific network password is not correct. Error status 0xc000006a

Corrupt directory on a SBS 2003. No other DC, no system state backup.

The server wouldnt accept any admin password and when I finally manage to reset it, I get this error. I can get into DSRM and other Safe Modes, but that's it!

Tried to repair the AD, didn't work

Now I want to remove demote the server, but I can only get into Safe Mode, where it won't let me remove AD og DC role.

Any bright ideas?

OK, found this one :http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/2003_Server/Q_22831275.html

I'll see if I can get it to boot after removing ntds.dit

This one seems to help me getting rid of the error message: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/332199

Now I can finally remove the AD role

I never tried but I believe a SBS 2003 without the domain role will be dead.

If you can access the server remotely via network, try to save all data from the server:
- files and documents
- export the Exchange mailboxes with ExMerge (download from MS),
- export public folder  (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822895)
- Sharepoint: no idea

Then re-install from scratch.

Solved the problem by myself, but your solution is a good advice
