Outlook 2010 crashes repeatedly after performing an archive action on the inbox

Hi all,

Recently performed a massive archive of the inbox folder via in outlook 2010 for a collegue. At the end or toward the end of the archive process however, the software crashed, and i could not close the process via task manager nor could i restart a new instance of outlook.

Upon restart(it crashed when i treid to shut it down), i can now open outlook and the mails are archieved, but it will just hang after a few mintues. Is there anyway i can fix this? Any help is much appreciated.

I would disable all add-ins from the add-in manager.

1.File-> section Options-> section Add-Ins
2.At the "Manage" dropdown list at the bottom select which type of add-ins you would like to enable/disable
3.Press "Go…" and make the changes
4.For some add-ins you’ll need to restart Outlook for changes to take effect.

You may need to open outlook in safe mode if it keeps hanging to do what KaptainKenbo said. From the run command (Start > Run):

outlook /safe

That closes all unnesseary rubbish so you can trouble shoot the plugins etc.
