Changing the Hosts file on a Mac

I'm not an Apple person but I need to make an entry into a Mac Hosts file.  Could someone tell me where to find  the Hosts file on a Mac and what simple editing program to use.  On a PC I would just go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and edit it with Notepad.

Thanks

It is in the /etc folder
you should be able to open the host file in TextEdit
