How to setup a credit card in Joomla 1.5 and Virtuemart.

Hello there.

I would like some help in setting up a Credit Card in Virtuemart.   I'm using the default credit card payment method that is there when installed.

A question.  When someone pays by entering in their credit card details - what happens after that?  I mean, that money should transfer to my bank account, but I cannot see a setting (please see attached image of the configuration screen for the default credit card payment)

Guess I just do not understand the whole process because I have not used it before.  Say, for example, I can use Pay Pal - in the config page I enter my business email - so call transactions, payments, go there.

Like I said, when configuring the credit card - I can't see how the payment will be transfered to my bank account.

There are two options which i don't understand (these can be seen from the config image)

* Authorize.net API Login ID
* Authorize.net Transaction Key

Can you explain these.
Thanks.

Hello AaielloJ,

Thanks for the information.  Am I correct in saying that I have to pay to set this up - going by this link?
http://www.authorize.net/solutions/merchantsolutions/pricing/

Is this the only way I can get card payments processed by Virtuemart?
Thanks.
Ok - I get it.  Basically I'm going to have to pay to use an online payment system to process credit cards - either this one or, for example, World Pay.
Another question.

Could I not just use Pay Pal to process the Credit Cards?   Just change the payment method type to Credit Card?

Thanks.
SpencerKarnovski:

You can use any credit card processor that Joomla supports.  Almost all of them either charge a monthly fee.  The free ones usually charge a percentage of each transaction processed.  If the volume is low, the free or low cost processors may be more cost effective.  If the volume is higher, the pay processors are definitely the most economical way to go.

Thank you for the points and good luck with your project.

Regards,
AielloJ
