rebuilding outlook nk2 file

Hi, ands thanks for any info.

I've got a question about Outlook 2003 nk2 nicknames file.  Apparently, a client's nickname file was damaged, because it now only shows the listings for the most recent emails used.

Can the user simply create a new email and choose the contacts that they want in the nicknames file?  Will that populate the nicknames file?  Or is there something else that would be necessary to force the emails into the nk2 file?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Mark

The nicknames file is built slowly as the user SENDS email to people.  I believe there are third party tools that can "import" a CSV or TSV file into the NK2.  And if you look in the folder or for a backup, an old NK2 file may still work if you name it the same as his current outlook profile name (rename the new existing file).

download and run recuva from piriform.com and that should restore the nk2 file for the user
