FTP and Website Hosting Development
All,
I am very very new to website development and working with a hosting provider so I am sure that this question will seem easy but just trying to get my head around it.
Basically I have a website hosting company right now that for example hosts my website: www.myurl.com. How can I go about posting images to my FTP server in the folder /images without it being indexed by google or search engines if I am just in the development process.
I have read about robots.txt and also that if someone was to know my folder structure if I put in an index.html file in the /images folder it would display that in the browser. Are there other ways of storing files on the FTP without being indexed or found other than these two methods? I am trying not do a password protected folder just create a development region on the same server.
Thanks in advance.
