hp scanjet 4070
I looked up HP scanjet 4070 photosmart scanner on hp website and saw no driver for windows 7. I then searched the product in Windows 7 compatability center and it says it's compatible.
Does that mean I'll need to use the xp driver disk with it, or just plug it in and it will work without xp disk?

That'll teach me! Having told you in another thread that this won't work the Photosmarts have drivers included in the W7 install and updates via Windows Update. effectively it should be recognised as a scanner/camera device via plug and play (and works in 64bit too!).

The guy who owns the scanner says he was using hp director to do the scans, so how would he be able to scan without hp director?

The software will, you'll also have 2610 drivers but they won't be used. Don't anticipate full function yet, get it recognised first and then see what the WIA interface will deliver.
