sbs 2008 console stops working

On one client who is using sbs 2008 for some reason the sbs console stops working when we click on the network option.  That being the case we need to change the mailbox pop3 connector password for a user, where else can we make this change I can't find it in exchange management like sbs 2003

I'd recommend you install the latest SBS rollup: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2011/01/26/sbs-2008-update-rollup-5-released-kb2458094.aspx. Then see if the issue continues.



Is there anyway to just to change the pop3 password.  We have to schedule this update during a time when no one is using it over the weekend or overnight, there is no way just change the users pop3 connector password without using the sbs console?

Since the SBS console isn't working you could use the native console? It's an prebuilt MMC. It's under Windows Small Business Server on the all programs.


Thanks I drilled down through everything but could not find anything in the MMC that shows the pop3 connector, it would seem strange Microsoft only has it in one place
I forgot POP connector isn't in that console. I only use the POP3 connector for transition process. I'm a big fan of SMTP only for incoming mail. But we need to get your console working ASAP. It seems you're not going to be able to change the password unless you you can find and update the POP3 connectors configuration manually. What's the exact issue with the console when you try going to network?


The sbs console works but when I click on network it closes with the message sbs console has stopped working, the other options work but if I can't get into the network option I can't change the password

We are applying the patch tonight and will see what happens


We did the repair and applied the rollup and the problem still exists.  this is the only problem we are having with this server, we cannot change or add any pop passwords because of this.  Do you know of any other tricks ?  The server is up to date with patches etc
