Can only paste in about 120 charactors in putty

I have large aliases & functions I need to paste in to putty.

problem is that it stops the paste  at abourt120 charactors.

is there a setting  ?

    I have figured out more
     it is a tar comman with a series of file names after it.

    It is like it only permits a string so long

    Could you post your strings you try to paste into putty here?

    You can separte one line into multiple line with " \" at the end of each line.
    such as:
    tar cf a.tar 11111111111111   2222222222 \
    3333333 4444444444 555555555 \
    666666666 7777777777 88888888888 \
    99999999 000000000000

    Microsoft notepad was putting in line wrap charactors !!!

    I do like the \ and am using thsi

    I am giving wesly the points because his example pasted in from ee worked and lead me to the solution.
