IP address of a laptop

I have problems to have my laptop connect to my wireless router. I found the ip address is 192.168.49.1.
My trendnet 639 GR router used to assign IP address in the range 192.168.10.1 to 20.
Can anyone tell me is the router or win 7 of the laptop assign the dynamic ip address ?
However, if you wired my laptop to the router, there is no connectivity issue.

you have two options

Static IP and dynamic

If you choose static then make it 192.168.10.21 an address that is outside the assigned dhcp scope

The fact that you are getting another address on your pc  meens that you either have it setup static as 192.168.49.1 or there is another PC/Router supplying dhcp

Check the DHCP setting and see what the range of IP address are listed.

i think you connect to other router. Change name of your wireless and connect wireless again.
if this is not working i think you have setting manually your ip on wireless card
It sounds like something else in your netowork enviornment is assigning DHCP. Check everything. I found somones XBOX set up to do that and it was screwing everything up.

The reason is there is something wrong with wireless set up and it didn't work.
I tried to connect the laptop using a wire. All the 4 lan port of the trendnet router are occupied, one of them is occupied by a voip box. I just plug in the lap top to other lan port of the voip box and the laptop can go to internet. But ip address is outside the range of the trendnet router.

Yes, you are right , the voip box is actually a router which also assign ip address
