Try this by making Outlook your default email client.

venkatspb--Do you get both messages at once?
What are you doing when you get these messages?  What version of Windows are you using?

Have you scanned for malware?

"Reader_sl.exe" is the name of the Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher application.  It should reside here for Acrobat Reader version X (ie. 10):
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

Acrobat Reader has an option to enable or disable the speed launcher from running at startup using this registry key and value (Note: not in proper *.reg file format):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Adobe Reader Speed Launcher"="C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Reader_sl.exe"

I have what I believe to be the current version of Acrobat Reader (10.01.434) and the file size of "Reader_sl.exe" is 35,736 bytes.

You need to ascertain if it is the genuine file that is trying to run and is failing, because as jcimarron has made mention of, there is always a possibility that Malware has infected this file or has redirected the command to run another malicious file.

You were asked by jcimarron what you are actually doing at the time when the error occurs.  You added the caption to your screenshot image: "Error while trying to open any microsoft files."

What specific "Microsoft Files" are you fererring to?
Microsoft Office file documents?

The link between Acrobat Reader and Email client could be something to do with the Acrobat "SendMail.api" plugin.  (Acrobat Reader > Help menu > About Adobe plugins):
"The Acrobat SendMail plug-in adds a toolbar button to enable sending the current document as an attachment from the specified email client."

I suggest that you scan for Malware, then reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader, and then follow the steps to reset Outlook as your default email client as suggested by the other experts.
