FRX Installation

Receive the error message in the screenshot during the very initial prompts of the FRX viewer or reporter installation. Has anyone messed with this before? Is there a way to get the software installed? Installation Fail Screenshot

Are you installing remotely?  What operating system?  What version of FRx?

installing locally as local installation (no server involved). Win 7 Pro x86 . Frx version 6.7

I have FRx 6.7 running on my Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit computer with no issue.  My recommendation for installing on Windows 7:
1. Make sure to log into Windows as the local built-in administrator (not a domain admin and not a local admin).
2. Install outside of Program Files, not sure if you're getting that far in the installation even.
3. If you can, install from media that already has a service pack.  For my install, if I recall correctly I used media that includes SP 5, I think that works better than the RTM CD.  This is specific to Dynamics GP, not sure if it is the same for all FRx flavors out there.

Never get that far in the installation. Am logged in as local admin (no domain present). Installing from the only media we have.

Local admin is not the same as built-in administrator...just making sure.

Looking up similar errors online, it seems that this is sometimes an issue with the computer thinking multiple instances of the Windows Installer are running.  Can you try restarting the computer before installation?  And/or installing from Programs and Features?

Another thought - have you used this media successfully in the past?  In case there is a problem with it, are you able to download or request new media from the company that sold you FRx?  (Typically it's a partner and not Microsoft directly.)

This media has worked MANY times, and yes the laptop has been restarted multiple times between the attempts to install. I'm wondering if there's a stuck registry key or something from the first bad attempt that is keeping this from installing? Any ideas?

Make sure you are login as domain or Local Administrator. The real Admin and not another user with Admin rights.
