HBA block size received

This is not about the block size of disks.

In windows OS's, I have the option of changing HBA transfer size values of Emulex and Qlogic drivers from a default block of 512kb to a smaller value, such as 128kb.

ESXi 4.x doesn't seem to have the interface options to view or change this data, but I'm being asked questions about these settings and need to be prepared to change them to troubleshoot workload issues with our current SAN (HP EVA 8400)

Is this possible from ESXi 4.x?

You generally change the hba block size in the firmware settings, bios setup of the hba. At post hit CTRL-Q etc to enter hba BIOS.

We completed tests and found Emulex out perform Qlogic hbas.

OK, THanks.  I didn't think of going into the BIOS

Windows, Linux and Unix hosts support the use of SAN Surfer to tweak the settings, but there is no direct access from VMware vSphere ESX/ESXi to control the hbas. (not yet!).
