Workstation error: The system cannot log you on to this domain because the trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed.

User attempting to log onto network gets the following message:

The system cannot log you on to this domain because the trust relationship between
the primary domain and the trusted domain failed.

Due to too many attempts using known password, account is locked out.

How can this workstation be added back to the domain?

Had this issue before.

Solution that works for me:
- Unplug the network cable
- Restart the machine
- Login as local admin

Hope it works for you.

1. Login to the computer as the Local Administrator of the computer (not domain logon).

2. Remove the computer from the domain, specify the workgroup option, and use workgroup name of workgroup.

3. When prompted to restart, restart the computer.

4.  Login to the computer as the Local Administrator of the computer (not domain logon).

5. Add to domain, by specifying the domain name, or fqdn.

6. When prompted enter a username and password of a Domain Administrator account.

7. When prompted to restart, restart the computer.

After the restart the computer should be joined to the domain again.
