Infopath help

Hi,

I have a requirement, where I need to surface SQL data in infopath form. The actual scenario is like we have some pre-recorded data in SQL database. The user will first enter an ID in the infopath form based on which it will retrieve some data from SQL database. The data that user enters in infopath form should perform some validations against the database and notify the user if validation fails.

My questions are:

What are the challenges involved with infopath integrated with SQL data source?
Is infopath a good fit for this? or a custom WPF application that can talk to and cache SQL data would be a good fit?

Any guidance/ best practices/examples will be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

InfoPath works well. It has native ODBC connectivity to SQL. If the client users have infopath and access tot he SQL DB via ODBC this is very quick and easy to setup.

You can also use web services with InfoPath to interact with SQL if you want/need to do more setup or make the form web based in SharePoint.
