@sjef - I have already checked out the above options.  The Utility Plug in cannot be considered as of now. I have the method now, We can successfully establish a connection with notes database and cognos using an valid XML document which can be called via a lotus notes web agent where in the XML document can be used as the Data Source for connecting to Cognos. But I have no clue about what data should go into the XML document. :-(  I found this information from the following link --> http://www.techronnati.com/blog/ibm-db2-notes-cognos/integrating-lotus-notes-data-cognos-8-reports/
Please check and let me know how to begin with the XML document. I have installed Notes SQL, Cognos 8 BI and Lotus Notes 8.5 currently.
You have to develop a Notes agent using a Designer client. The agent is to produce XML "text". The website you linked to says that you can download an example source code when you register. Tried that?
I am unable to register to that site. Moreover, there is a confusion, if I have to create a notes agent to generate XML code or vice versa, an XML code which will extract notes data and act as a data source between notes and cognos.  Please guide.
Are you familiar with Notes development? And are you allowed to access your Domino server to install NotesSQL there?

Please bear in mind that I know nothing of Cognos, but I'll do my best!
Notes Development scope so far has been less for me, always only minor enhancements .. yes, we have the access. Cognos my knowledge is also 'Nil'

hmmm.. Still no luck with this activity here.. I have found information that we can connect thru ODBC itself .. But when I create a Framework in Cognos, I cannot see the DSN in the list.
I'd better throw in the towel... :(
