Sharepoint 2010 Changing Default Master Page

We at work have a SharePoint 2010 site that we have built.  Everything works fine as expected until we change the master page to one that we created.  Once we do this we cannot upload documents.  We click add new document and get the Generic error page.

If we switch the page back to the original default master page the issue goes away.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

it should show you a more specific error...
either by accessing the page on the sharepoint web front end server

or from following the instructions so you can see the error on a "remote machine".
