Excel - last filled cell - row/column

How can I determine what is the last filled cell - greatest row and column, without scrolling. Not all cells in the worksheet are filled.

    To find the last alphanumeric value in a column that may contain empty or blank cells or cells with only spaces (array formula):

    1) Press F5
    2) click the "special" button, bottom left
    3) Select "Current region", about halfway down on the left hand side
    4) Press "Alt-Tab" together

    This will take you to the last row/last column
