Disabling VAD on Cisco VGW

Hi,
We have a cisco vgw connected to a PRI line for testing.
A call generator on the lan side sends SIP calls to PSTN destinations.
On the return path (from pstn to lan), we always see gaps in the rtp stream that indicate the cisco is using silence suppression. How to turn that off?
On calls in the other direction, we disable it in the dial-peer with 'no vad' on the voice peer for the sip destination.
Thanks!

well, truth be told, there is a default dial-peer that is used to match incoming ip calls. we had to make an explicit one and then we could put 'no vad' in that. The override here looks good, but not sure it applies to our model of the gateway. giving points because it looks right.
