How to create external domain trust

I've got a windows 2008 R2 domain and I want to setup an external trust with a windows 2008 domain.  The instructions simply don't work.  I've setup DNS with conditional forwarding and I'm able to resolve all names in the other domain.

BUT when I go to Active Directory Domains and Trusts the other domain doesn't show up.  There is no Domain trust wizard.  There is no trust tab.  If I right-click anything there is no mention of trusts. I can not change forests due to bad username and pswd even though they are the same in both domains.... and yes my account is an enterprise/domain admin in both forests.

I can't even figure out how to get started.  I've read several types of instructions and nothing is even remotely correct.  What am I missing?

When you are in ADDT you should see your own domain. If you right click on that, and then click Properties, do you then see a screen with the Trusts tab?

So you don't see the trust tab here (see screenshots)

Hand to God I did not see that tab.  I looked everywhere!  But when I tried it this morning...there it was and creating the trust was as easy as it should have been.  Good sleep and good advice.  Thanks!
